This unique and dynamic conference is designed to serve all pet lovers, in many ways. Important seminars have been specially prepared for veterinary professionals – as well as people who counsel in pet loss and bereavement. That also includes those planning to, or who are already running support groups. And additionally, there are sessions on subjects that are vital to all pet owners, in general. We urge you to attend, and take advantage of this outstanding and gratifying experience.

The APLB is proudly offering you an ideal opportunity to learn new perspectives, and join our wonderful and fast-growing community. The personal and professional networking that will be going on is unique to our conferences.

Wayne Pacelle, president and CEO of HSUS will give the keynote address at the opening session, on Saturday. He will talk about how the APLB and HSUS serve animal lovers, in ways that no other organizations can. And he will tell us about the way to a new, humane economy — one not built on extraction, suffering, and killing, but on the celebration, stewardship, and care of animals. He will also comment on other interesting areas of interest, including clearing up any misconceptions about the HSUS. There will be a question-answer period at the end, to help satisfy any remaining concerns.

And on Sunday, our vice president, Joe Dwyer, will tell about his amazing experience, adopting “Daniel, the Miracle Dog” who survived a euthanizing gas chamber in Georgia, and became a world figure in all media. Joe will then introduce Linda Schiller, president of 11th Hour Rescue, who facilitated Daniel’s rescue and adoption. Come and meet Daniel. He will be at the conference all day, on Sunday.

On Friday, May 18 we will again be giving our highly acclaimed in-person 10-hour Workshop for pet bereavement counselors. The special APLB Certificate of Training, and 10 CE credits, authorized by NASW will also be awarded for this.

The main meeting room will be utilized during the seminars as an ongoing bereavement clinic. Vendors will have tables, and other books, material and paraphernalia will also be made available, here. A “Wall of Honor” will be set up, and attendees are asked to pin photos and memorial statements of their beloved deceased pets on it. And there will also be a special page in the Conference Catalog, naming and honoring all the deceased pets of those who attend.

Breakfasts and the dinner are free to those with paid registrations for both days of the conference. Anyone else may attend, if they make special arrangements with Dr. Sife. Vegetarian selections are available.
